Why do most associates surrounded by NJ own asphalt driveways? Would concrete also be a perfect remedy?
Answers: Paver bricks would agree to rain seep through to the ground, to some extent than running off into sewers.
Better for the environment.
Yes, concrete would be a good likelihood. However if the area that is to be poured cannot lug a full load (10 to 12 cu yards.) you would own to pay for an entire load. In adding together the prep time for bituminous concrete (asphalt) compact the sub grade and you pave vs, Portland concrete where you compact, set forms and pour. Both will you furnish a durable surface if done correctly. In addition you must factor in the counterbalance load that will be on the driveway, IE. camper, trailer, boat or mason dump truck to mentioned a few.
With what ever option you want to use, make sure you get a reputable contractor. Good luck. I hope this help.
I live 5 miles from the ocean and was once told that the saline air and weird humidity cause the concrete to wear and breakdown faster. Don't notice asphalt drives. My back courtyard terrace area broke apart at 5 years and a strain to repair/replace. Had to start from scratch - very time consuming. My driveway be originally concrete but took that out and filled it with showy stone and surprisingly not difficult to deal with when it snows, what little I gain here. Consult with a mason. Concrete costs more, but will last longer.
