They are doing this cause it is their way. It is the considerate of Hollyhocks you have. Not all will do this. Hollyhocks attract Hummingbirds, and for this disposition they give color for attraction. Nothing is wrong with them, I hope you don't consider it is? They are one of my favorite flowers too. I am from Holland (My ethnic group heritage is). these flowers originate there.
Don't verbs, there is no desease in/on them. I hope you have them planted within an area BY THEMSELVES though. They are stingy that way. : ) Seriously.
There are so tons varieities of color for hollyhocks. There will be slight variations of colors between flowers of different seeds...it's adjectives genetics. Just like here are variations between siblings.
The only time you should verbs about diseases is if the coloring is sudden and spreading.
