Would a steamer turn on a smoke detector?
Answers: It COULD potentially set off the smoke detector but you would need a LOT of steam surrounded by close proximity to the detector. Smoke detectors work based on electricity passed over a short space between electrodes. If ANYTHING disrupts the current the alarm will sound. But since steam dissipates into the upper air so rapidly it makes it much smaller quantity likely to set off the alarm. Where as smoke particle hang in the atmosphere much longer.
No. Steamers should not set off a smoke detector unless the detector is intentionally covered. A clothing steamer should be fine to use without setting past its sell-by date your detector. Happy steaming:)) As in food steamer??
I wouldnt have thought so.. as a steamer traps the steam inside the device, as the steam cooks the food.
A Cleveland steamer? yes.
